It was only a matter of time before the success of Mad Men started to trickle down to the broadcast networks, and sure enough we've got two 1960s-set pilots to look forward to next season! As well as NBC's stylish The Playboy Club, we're excited about ABC's Pan Am. The series focuses on the stewards and pilots working for the classic airline and, as well as being beautifully shot, it stars Christina Ricci and Kelli Garner. It's going in the post-Desperate Housewives slot on Sunday nights, so expect love, sex and soapy drama - all with a stunning '60s setting.
We've already waxed lyrical about this new sci-fi procedural, but it really does look like the best drama offering coming out of Fox this year! There's more than a little hint of Lost about this new series - unsurprising given that it's sprung from the fertile mind of J.J. Abrams and one of the much-missed ABC drama's writers Elizabeth Sarnoff. Relative newcomer Sarah Jones plays Rebecca Madsen, a San Francisco cop who teams up with Alcatraz expert Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia) and mysterious government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) when one of the prison's former inmates, believed to be long-dead, remerges. A strong cast, an interesting premise and, most recently, an impressive teaser trailer have got us psyched for Alcatraz - it's just a shame that we have to wait until midseason for the series premiere!

The 70s TV show CHiPs was shot in the late 70s and early 80s which could be considered as a very controversial time in the world, this series was no exception to that. Fans of the show started to mock this concept immediately because of its redundancy; the show then literally meant California Highway Patrol Patrol. When the series was officially off the air, they went back to the original name for the episodes being played in syndication.
3. Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox only drew their firearms in CHiPs 99, but never in the original series.
4. Seven Mary Three is a rock band, but even more worthy of noting is their name. They chose their band name based on the radio call sign that the character Jon Baker used in the show.
5. If you were an avid fan then you most likely noticed that Jon Bakers service in Vietnam was occasionally referenced in the show. This made his character one of the earliest and most positive portrayals of a veteran from the Vietnam War. The real Larry Wilcox was actually in Vietnam for a period of 13 months serving as a Marine artilleryman.
